On Friday, March 18, 2022, President Biden signed into law H.R. 2497, the “Amache National Historic Site Act,” which establishes the Amache National Historic Site in the State of Colorado as a “unit of the National Park System, to preserve, protect, and interpret the incarceration of civilians of Japanese ancestry during World War II at the Amache site.”

We thank Representatives Neguse and Buck and Senators Bennett and Hickenlooper for their leadership and support.

DC Chapter’s very own John Tobe had the pleasure of meeting Senator Hickenlooper at the National Japanese American Memorial on Friday, March 18th, 2022. Tobe graciously served as a representative on behalf of the National Japanese American Memorial Foundation (NJAMF), JACL DC Chapter, and JACL National. We thank Senator Hickenlooper for his support of Amache and his co-sponsorship of S988.
