Members and guests shared fun times and great food at the annual JACL picnic on June 9. Tables were packed with BBQ (grilled onsite at Wheaton Regional Park), rice dishes, salads, fruits, desserts. Picnickers of all ages enjoyed the raffle of dozens of donated gifts. For suikawari (“think watermelon pinata,” said event organizer Georgette Furukawa-Martinez), Jack Tobe won the 18-under contest, and Minister Hideaki Mizukoshi from the Embassy of Japan showed off his home field advantage and won the adult competition in one swing!
